Aroma: Lots of fruity esters, cherry, raspberry. A bold yeast aroma, mild pepper. No hops. No diacetyl. Some brettcontributing to the bitterness. Bold sweet and sour fruit pretty much sums this one
Aroma: Lots of fruity esters, cherry, raspberry. A bold yeast aroma, mild pepper. No hops. No diacetyl. Some brettcontributing to the bitterness. Bold sweet and sour fruit pretty much sums this one up.
Appearance: Dark brown, opaque. Some red can be seen when held up to a bright light. The head is brown and red, and fizzles loudly as it dissipates quickly, leaving no head or lacing.
Taste: Sour fruit and spicy phenols. Fruit is black cherries. Mild vanilla. Mild acidity and sourness. Tannic bitterness. Finishes dry like a red wine, but much sweeter.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Milidly astringent and acidic. What carbonation is there is stinging. Light and crisp. Similar to a dry red wine.
Overall: A classic example. Interesting how they call it a Flanders "Red Brown" Ale. I'm not seeing any of the dark malts, this is more of a pure Flanders Red, which as far as I know is how this one is officially categorized. Easy to drink, crisp and refreshing.
