Appearance: Pours a deep and very hazy brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of off white head that quickly fade into a thin patchy layer. Lacing is pretty light.
Smell: An interesting aroma that is fairly sweet and spicy. Belgian yeast with a light hint of clove. Big malt presence with some bready caramel and toffee. Hints of banana, pear, and apple juice along with some plums, figs, and raisins. Also some brown sugar and a hint of coriander. A little bit of alcohol comes out in the nose.
Taste: Starts out with a spicy taste of Belgian yeast and cloves. Then comes a sweet taste of bready malts with good notes of caramel and toffee. Nice blend of fruits with notes of apple, pear, and banana along with some dark raisins, figs, and plum in the background. Light hints of coriander spice. Also a good amount of brown sugar. Very good taste.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a medium to heavy level of carbonation. Creamy, crisp, and somewhat tingly. Feels light but still rich. Alcohol is hidden very well.
Overall: A very good authentic dark Belgian ale. Great mix of fruits and spices. Manages to feel light without sacrificing taste.
